New Year's Eve

Another year has come and gone. It doesn't seem possible, last Christmas doesn't seem like it was over a year ago ! I guess it is true what they say about the years going faster the older you get. The last few years have been good in that my siblings and I have all been in closer contact and have been together more often. Unfortunately, not always for good reasons. On July 26th when I got the call from my sister saying that the nursing home where our parents live called her, I knew it was bad. They said we should all get there. My brother had just been there, so he didn't make the long trip in from Ohio, but the other three of us who live out of town came to visit. On July 27, a Sunday, Dad was gone. That is the one really lasting impression that 2008 has left on me, it's the year I lost my dad. He wasn't in good health the last few years, but he was still here . He really is in a better place...to see him the way he was at the end and to see how confused mom w

Tuesday evening

Getting ready to go out to dinner. It is not too bad here temperature wise, but it is supposed to get really windy. I am excited, I found out today that we will have the MLB network starting at 6pm on New Year's Day. All baseball, 24 hours a day, all year! It is only 107 days till the new Yankee Stadium opens, and less than two months till pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training!!! I love baseball and baseball season can't come quickly enough to suit me. Good day working from home today, got a lot of things done that I had been putting off.

Only two days left in 2008!

Working from home today. I figured I have about 9 or 10 things to take care of and if each one takes me an hour, that will fill up my whole day. DH will be gone all day, so I won't have any distractions. I think it is great that we are allowed to work from home to get administrative work done. I also love having a job where I basically make my own schedule. Sometimes it is challenging, but it enables me to make Dr and Dentist appointments more easily. I need to organize my work space so I can be more productive. Time for a bowl of cereal then to start working. Dinner with the family tonight, I am looking forward to it!

Monday, Dec. 29

Out the door early today for work. Had to be at a meeting at 8:30 and it takes me 2 hours to get there. My rooster alarm worked quite well! Meeting was okay, had lunch at Panera, big enough sandwich that I can eat the rest tomorrow for lunch. Going to dinner with my SIL and her kids tomorrow night. She got us all gift cards for a restaurant so we are all going together. DH is happy cause the Ravens and Eagles won! Hooray, on to the playoffs. It would be so cool of Philly could win the Super Bowl, too after my Phils winning the World Series! The city would go crazy!!! Hope things get better with the economy, my nephew is laid off, I pray it won't be for long. I really do hope that Obama is a good President! I didn't vote for him, but I want him to be successful for the sake of our country and it's citizens. It is so hard to believe that another year is all but over! Sometimes I think about things that happened years ago and it seems like they happened weeks ago! Where does t

Sunday afternoon

I am trying to lose weight, a lot of it. Maybe when I have made some progress, I will tell you how much! I have done it before and it always comes back. I am hoping that by setting realistic goals, I will be able to take it off and keep it off. My DH and I will work together to accomplish our goals. My real start date is January 1, but I am taking small steps now to work toward that day. Today I exericsed with my Wii and did some weight training. I am hungry right now and want so much to order Chinese food just one more time before the big changes start! Should I or shouldn't I? It will depend on what DH wants to do. If he wants Chinese, we will order. If he wants to be 'good' I will make a salad. I don't want a salad, but I do want to be healthy. Hey, if anyone is reading this and you have any diet or exercise tips, I'd love to hear them! If you need some advice, I will give you some: www.sparkpeople.com it is a great, free site where you can track what y

I don't know if my life is exciting enough to blog about. Maybe no one will want to read this cause it is boring. Well, at least it will be like a journal for me. Woke up to the sound of a rooster crowing today, my new alarm clock that my dh got me for Christmas! I hate the sound of a buzzer or bell to wake me up and I told him a like the sound of a rooster crowing, so he found me an alarm clock that does it! When I was with my ex (he whose name must not be spoken) there was a rooster that lived in the barn next to our house. Unfortunately, the evil one shot the rooster so that was the end of my pleasant wake up calls. I guess no one will shoot this rooster. Impressed my dh by making blueberry pancakes for breakfast. The reminded me of my years working as a waitress at HoJo's. Blueberry pancakes, corn toasties, fried clams...ah, those were the days!

December 27, 2008

My sister got me the audio book of Ronald Reagan's diary for Christmas. It motivated me to start a journal, then I thought, you are a women of the 21st century, you should have a BLOG!!! so here I am. Today is the five month anniversary of my father's passing. It was sad to have a Christmas without him. Tonight I am feeling sad, but I think I always feel that way when Christmas has passed. I am also still having hot flashes and mood swings from menopause, so it could be many things. I am so happy for my sister, she just got engaged! Now we have to think of a theme for the wedding! Healthy eating habits and exercise have to start soon. I think I'll go eat something healthy!
