Getting Ready for the New Year

Last year I was introduced to  Ayurveda  As with so many things...I didn't stick with it...but this morning I decided to incorporate some of the things that I learned into my morning routine.  The pieces of Ayurveda that I use I learned from a video that I purchased last year.  Using a Nettie Pot to rinse my sinuses, tongue scraping, skin brushing, and yoga are easy to add to your routine without adding a lot of time. I started out with the Sun Salutation  that the 'You' Dr's address in their book You on a Diet.  Any information that you find on the Real-age or Dr Oz website is really from Dr Oz.  Since we are on that subject...when you see ads on FB or other social network sites that show Dr Oz's face or name claiming that he endorses some pill or anything...it is a scam!  I just saw an episode of his show the other day on which he addressed this.  Don't fall for any of those raspberry ketone or green coffee ads...he has nothing to do with them and they may b

Snow...snow...snow

It seems like we didn't get much snow the last couple of years and now we have had 2 storms in a week!  They have only been a few inches each...but they have been enough to make a mess of everything and to make traveling hard.   I am glad that I have a job that allows me to work from home - that's what I did today...worked some...shoveled some snow...worked some more. It has been a good opportunity to get caught up on some things that I have been neglecting. Maybe sometime in the next four days that I have off I can find the energy to get caught up on some household chores that I have been neglecting.  I have been doing pretty well...I cleaned off and reorganized my makeup table and jewelry box this week! I made a lot of progress this year on throwing out stuff that we didn't need anymore. I guess I saw one too many hoarder stories and was afraid of becoming like them! I think one of the reasons I was in more of the Christmas spirit this year was because decorating wa

Merry Christmas!

It has been ages since I have posted anything here....just get busy with other things and don't find the time. Thought I would stop by to say Merry Christmas!  I would also love it if you would check out my other blog -  Training Tips   I post there much more often and share tips and information about employee training...that's my work passion! We had a nice dinner in Hershey today at  Lebbie Lebkicher's  at the Hershey Lodge. Very good food ...but probably too much chocolate!  They even had chocolate balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing!!  Anyone who knows me knows I am a chocoholic but that was too much even for me!!! We were getting a cup of coffee after dinner and a little girl came up to my DH and said "Hi Santa Clause!"  He has white hair and a beard and mustache and ...ok...he is kind of shaped like Santa!  She was so cute and I think she really thought he was Santa. After that we stopped by my sister-in-law's house to exchange gifts. We had a ve
Have decided to go back to using the My Fitness Pal site and app. I for some reason feel overwhelmed by Sparkpeople. I know it is completely mental and I think it is because I was so involved before that I am avoiding it now. I don't mean to put Sparkpeople down; it is a great site and it is free but I can't do everything. I have the app for MyFitnessPal on my tablet so it is very easy for me to use. I will check to see if Sparkpeople has an app like that, if they do, I will give it a try.  Out of town a couple nights this week - that is a big challenge at the start of my attempt to eat a healthier diet. Wish me luck!
I want, no I NEED to lose 50 pounds!  I am so sick of the lose and gain - lose and gain roller coaster.  I hate the idea of tracking calories, but I went back to Sparkpeople today.  If I follow the meal plan, I don't have to actually count calories, just eat what the plan tells me.  Maybe this time I can get a jump start and then just get used to eating a healthy, balanced diet.  Exercise is one key ingredient to my success.  Total Gym. here I come!

Summer Flowers

What are friends for if not to help give us a gentle nudge when we are being lazy?  Got an email today from my friend Foxy who had visited my blog only to find that I haven't posted in over a year!  Thanks buddy!! I started looking through some other people's blogs trying to come up with ideas of something I could post on a regular basis that would do two things: 1. be of some interest to other people 2. be of enough interest to me that I will post regularly Maybe some photos, or maybe I could get myself back on track of my supposed healthy lifestyle.  I am a mess and I need to get moving!  I hate to go back to calorie counting, but that may be the only way that I can lose this tonnage! I have been taking pictures of our flowers and if I do say so myself, some of them are pretty nice. I hope others will enjoy them!
