Getting ready for P90X

One of my goals is that when I have lost 28 pounds, I will start doing the P90X workouts. I bought the set of DVD's two years ago and was just too heavy and out of shape to do them. I tried, but it was too much for me to sustain. Now I am 6 pounds away from meeting my goal so I started looking at the program last night...specifically the eating plan. I did all the figuring and it came out that I should eat 2400 calories a day when doing the workout. I can't imagine that is correct, I am sure that with the job that I have...spending much of my time in a car or sitting in meetings, that will be too much. Right now I eat between 1300 and 1500 calories a day, burn around 1100 calories in my workouts and I lose 1-2 pounds a week. I wonder if that calculation is based on maintaining weight and building endurance and muscle....who knows? I will have to research it further. The other thing is that I don't know if I will do the P90X every day, or if I will do other workouts, like my beloved Leslie walks, on some days. I want to be prepared....going to start to work on some spreadsheets to track my progress. I know they have them online, but, unlike when I first purchased the DVD's, I think you now have to join the site...for a fee to get these resources...I am not going to do that, so I will just make my own charts and continue to track my progress on Sparkpeople. I will also continue to track my food on Sparkpeople, but I need something to keep track throughout the day of the portions I am eating. I don't know if I will be able to stick to it...it only allows me one fruit a day!!! I eat at least 4-5 servings of fruit right now!! Love my fruit! We shall see...I think as long as I am eating enough calories to not "bonk" as he calls it...that is run out of energy while doing a workout...I will be okay. I will give it a try and see how it works...it does focus on less carbs and more protein and that is what I have been trying to do anyway. I am thinking I can replace the snack bars (which again, I am not going to buy from them) with fruit and that will satisfy my cravings.

Hopefully I will be starting the program in the next 4 weeks!!

  1. The calories listed for P90x are correct. You really need to eat a lot while doing P90x because you burn so many calories during the workout and it takes a lot of energy for your body to rebuild the muscles you break down during the different workouts. You will have amazing results once you start, get ready to buy more clothes :)

Feeling blessed

I was thinking about my perception of my past.  When I go to  Celebrate Recovery  and listen to other people's stories, I am sometimes reminded of things that I have been through in my life.  It is strange because sometimes it seems that they are things that I have forgotten about.  Memories come back and I realize how much God has been caring for me my whole life. Even when I wasn't walking as closely with Him as I am now, He was still there. It makes me think of the Footprints poem - I didn't know it, but He was carrying me! My first husband was not a very good person.  He had some good qualities.  He could be very generous, but only with certain people and only if he made the decision to be generous.  He expected me to put up with many inconveniences - even though we could have afforded better.  We lived for years in a mobile home that was in pretty rough shape.  We talked about buying a nice double-wide, but he didn't want to spend the money on the land or the hou
Happy Monday!  Not quite as cold today - but still fall-like. Left work early today to go to a Dr. appointment - now I have a little extra time to relax before heading to Celebrate Recovery tonight.  I will tell you more about this wonderful ministry some other time, but feel free to Google the name to learn more. My husband looked back at some pictures he took this summer when my sister and her husband were visiting.  My brother-in-law passed away a couple of week ago, after a battle with cancer.  DH cropped down this pic for me - I love it! Have a blessed night! Missy

August 1951...Roy's view

It was raining, but that wasn’t abnormal these days, August had been a very wet month, it seemed like it rained every day. Roy’s friend, Luther had driven to pick up his sister and her daughter and they would be stopping by any time now. Roy was glad that they were coming to visit. Over the past year, his thoughts had often turned to Ellen. He wanted an excuse to go back to Luther’s home so he could see Ellen and her sweet little daughter, Leah. Finally, he didn’t need any excuse, they were coming here! He heard a car pull up, but was disappointed to find it was just a customer pulling up for gas. His sister Peggy headed out to the pumps, but Roy stopped her. “I’ll get it,” he said, “You don’t need to go out there and get soaked.” As the day wore on, he began to think that they weren’t going to show up. “Maybe it would be tomorrow,” he thought. “You look like your waiting for someone, Roy, what’s going on?” his mother, Jane asked. “It’s just that Luther and his sister should be getting
